Recreate Demi Lovato!

Demi Lovato does not only have an amazing voice, but she inspires everyone around her. Her fashion sense usually leans towards punk/indie, and in this outfit it is more indie. It is almost spring, which means time to start putting away the jeans! I will be adding a slight twist to the outfit by making the top a crop top. Crop tops can look intimidating, but any body type can pull them off. This skirt is versatile, so you can make it high waisted simply by pulling it up as far as you want.

This outfit is also very affordable, and you can take and add many pieces. If it is warm, you can take away the jean jacket.  You can switch out the shoes for flats if you are doing a lot of walking. The overall look of the outfit is very free spirited. The skirt is light and flowy, and you can show off just the right amount of skin.

Beauty Hacks

I remember the first makeup product I ever bought. I was 12, and it was a glitter eyeshadow palette (10 colors) that was being sold at Walgreens for a $1. It opened me up to makeup and beauty in general. I didn't realize it then, but makeup and beauty products in general can get quite pricey. A lip gloss can cost up to $32! Lucky for you, I have been on the lookout for cheap, yet equally stylish alternatives to pricey products.
The first hack is Vaseline. I have talked about the many uses of this item in previous posts, and it is making a appearance again! Rub this on your wrist, and spray on a body mist or perfume. The scent lasts a long time, and you won't have to go out and but for scents all the time.

Going along with the scents idea, perfumes and body sprays can be quite expensive. Why not make your own? You can buy essential oils at any health food store (ex: Whole Foods), and by making a ratio of water to oil, you can make your own scent. My personal favorite is grapefruit, because it smells good and is supposed to make you joyful. (tip: if you have a headache or stomach ache, put a drop of peppermint oil on your tongue. If it is a stomach ache, also put a drop on your stomach. I was on a plane with no Advil and had a major headache, and for some reason I had peppermint oil. I used this, and my headache went right away.)
Lipstick. Always reapplying, and reapplying some more. Before you know it, the product is either gone, or you've lost it. Every time you put more on, the less there is. Before putting any color on your lips, put foundation on it. Yes, you'll temporarily look like a ghost. Then, apply the color. The foundation acts like a glue, and whenever you eat, drink, or lick your lips, the color will stay on longer.

Baby oil/gel. This stuff takes off your makeup just like that. Plus, since it is made for babies, it doesn't sting or cause any pain.

Lipstick can double as a blush. Apply it to your cheeks as you would a cheek cream, and BAM! you have rosey cheeks.

On the flip side, you can use blush as a lip stain. Using any chap-stick, dust a little put of blush onto your lips. Blend it in using your chap-stick.

Sometimes we all like to go bold. There are some days when I want to wear green eyeliner, or just don't feel like buying a new, everyday liner. If you are like me, try using an eyeshadow. These are just like pencil eyeliners, and you can buy an eyeliner brush made for powdered products at any store that carries makeup.

Want fuller lashes without the falseies? After you apply one layer on mascara, dust on baby powder (using a Q-tip) to the base of your lashes. Apply another coat of mascara, and your lashes will look fuller and have way more volume.

I hope this helps you, so that you can spend money on more than just makeup. The giveaway is officially closed, but stay tuned for more! Spring break is getting closer and closer, I can't wait! Do ant of you have plans? Recently I have trying to post more, and put more time into each post. In the near future I am going to be posting a schedule of when a new post will be up. That way, you will know when something new is up! If you want to, do the poll that I have up! I want to make this blog as interactive as possible, so I will also be including more quizzes and activities in my blog!
As Always,
xoxo Em

Travel Makeup Bag Essentials

Whenever you are traveling, you have limited amounts of space to pack things. In your travel makeup bag, everything should have a purpose. Start by looking through the samples you have accumulated over the months. Samples come in very handy when you're traveling. Benefit's porefessional traval size primer is just one of many primers you could bring. Bringing a primer is crucial, especially if you will be in the water. You don't want everything falling off! Next you'll want to bring a BB cream with SPF and moisturizer in it. BB cream's are great because they are easy to put on with your fingers. They are also more natural looking and act as a concealer as well. You'll also want to bring a pressed powder that comes with a applicator in it. Try to bring as little makeup brushes as you can, because those suckers take up space! As for eyes, I personally a palette that has it all. the NYC individual eyes palette comes with a primer, two base colors, two crease colors, and a highlighter. For eyes you may want to bring a brush, because the plastic one that come with the colors usually aren't that great. For eyeliner, bring a gel one. If you bring a pencil one, the tip may break off or get dull. For mascara, any travel size one will do. As for blush and bronzer, try and bring a kit that has them both in one package. For lips, Baby Lips are a must have. They are moisturizing and and have color. NYX lip glosses are also a good choice. Unless you're eyebrows are not in good condition, I wouldn't recommend bring any makeup for them.
As Always,
xoxo Em

February Favorites+ Giveaway Update

This month I have had quite a few favorites. The first is Grape Lemonade gum. I know the name may be a bit off putting, but trust me when I say it tastes delicious! It is sugar free, and the taste doesn't go away. Gum is good for when you aren't starving, but you don't want a snack. Raspberry bars are my new addiction. The linked recipe is for strawberry bars, but I just switch them out for raspberries. They are relatively healthy, and are an easy dessert. From the body shop I recently picked up the satsuma body puree. It has a liquid texture, and absorbs instantly into your skin. Not to mention it smells like heaven. For shampoo I have been using the Nexus shampoo. The smell stays in your hair for a long time and it does a good job of hydrating it. During the winter, my nails need some love. I put the solar cuticle oil at night and in the morning my nails and cuticles look much healthier. When I have time, I like to use Essie's candy apply mint nail polish. Since spring isn't too far away, I'm starting to wear lighter nail colors. Going along with the mint theme, EOS's mint balm makes your lips super tingly after you put it on! The benetint from benefit give a natural blush to your face. It goes on as liquid, and all you do is rub it in. I don't know why, but to me it smells like roses.

With the giveaway, it is open for entries until March 5. Many of you have emailed me, and just know that you still have time to enter!

Happy March 1! Spring break is getting closer and closer, maybe I'll be posting some travel posts soon :). I hope you all are having a good year so far!

xoxo Em
