Choosing the right foundation

Choosing the right foundation can be tricky. You want one with enough coverage, but not enough that it makes your skin cakey. The first thing you should know is that you should always be changing your foundation, especially from season to season. One reason is that your skin color changes. Your foundation for summer will most likely be more darker than your foundation for winter. Also, I usually go for BB creams in the summer because they are lighter on the skin. Go with foundation in the winter because it works better with dry skin. Now since there are so many great foundations, I cant recommend one specific brand. You have to try them and see which one works for you the best. With foundation the general rule is that if you can't see it, it is a good fit. This rule does not apply to concealers or any other type of makeup though. Since the weather is getting cooler always moisturize with SPF lotion before applying foundation. You really don't want anything flaking off. When applying foundation put some dots on it all over your face, adding more to areas that need it. Then, use a foundation brush to blend it all in. You can use your hands, but using a brush gives you a more flawless look.  If ever your skin tone is in the middle of two colors, don't settle for one of the other. Get both and mix them! Remember, you want your face to look natural, not like barbie, so attend to precision!!! Now your skin type will also tell you what type of foundation to use. With dry skin I recommend foundation, and with oily skin I recommend applying foundation as well. If you have oily or combination skin, add some powder foundation to the spots that need it. That being said, make sure you don't over do it. You always want to go with matte finish foundations, because others will make your skin look shiny. If you want a glow to your face, add bronzer and some highlighter. Before you put on foundation try to exfoliate your skin to remove any dead skin cells and dirt on your face. You also want to carry around some oil absorbing sheets as well as powder foundation for touch ups. Another tip is to look for foundation with the same undertone as you. Have no idea what that is? If you tend to look better in lighter clothes, you probably have a warm undertone and if you rock darker clothes you probably have a cool undertone. If you look good in both you may have a neutral undertone. I hope these tips help! Time for the weekend. Do something productive, even if its as simple as taking a walk.
As always,
xoxo Em
